Move My Stuff ("we", "us", "our") is a man and van removals company based in Lowestoft, Suffolk, providing home removals, office removals, packing, delivery and storage services across Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. This policy explains what personal data we collect through this website (movemystuff.biz), why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have. It's written to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. WHO WE ARE

Move My Stuff is the data controller responsible for your personal data. You can contact us at:

2. WHAT PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT

We only collect what we need to answer your enquiry, quote your move and deliver our services. This includes:

  • Contact form: name, email address, phone number and the message you send us.
  • Online quote form: name, title, email address, phone/mobile numbers, preferred moving date, property size, moving-from and moving-to locations, and details of the items you're moving.
  • Volume calculator: this tool runs entirely in your browser — the item quantities you enter are not sent to us unless you choose to carry them through to the online quote form.
  • Phone and email correspondence: details you give us directly when discussing a booking.
  • Website usage data: if we use Google Analytics, aggregated and anonymised statistics about how visitors use the site (see the Cookies section below).

We do not collect payment card details through this website, and we do not carry out credit checks or share data with credit reference or fraud prevention agencies.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA AND OUR LAWFUL BASIS

  • To respond to enquiries and provide quotes — necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract with you.
  • To deliver a booked removal, delivery, packing or storage service — necessary for the performance of our contract with you.
  • To keep records for accounting, invoicing and tax purposes — necessary to comply with our legal obligations (e.g. HMRC record-keeping requirements).
  • To improve our website and services — our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used, balanced against your privacy.

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.

4. WHO WE SHARE YOUR DATA WITH

We only share personal data where necessary to deliver our services or where we're required to by law:

  • With our own removals team and any subcontracted crew or vehicle we use to carry out a booked job.
  • With service providers who support our website and email (e.g. hosting and IT providers), bound by confidentiality.
  • With Google, if we use Google Analytics, in aggregated/anonymised form to understand site usage.
  • With a regulator, law enforcement or other third party where we're legally required to.
  • If the business is sold or transferred, personal data may be transferred to the new owner as part of that sale.

5. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Some of the tools we use (such as Google Analytics, if enabled) may process data on servers outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on the provider's standard contractual clauses or an equivalent recognised safeguard to ensure your data stays protected to UK standards.

6. HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR DATA

  • Contact and quote enquiries that don't lead to a booking: kept for up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Bookings and related invoices: kept for 6 years, in line with HMRC record-keeping requirements.
  • Website analytics data (if enabled): kept only in aggregated/anonymised form.

7. COOKIES

This website uses a small number of cookies:

  • Essential session cookie — required for the website to function correctly. This cannot be switched off.
  • Google Analytics cookies (e.g. _ga, _ga_*), if enabled — used to understand how visitors use the site, in aggregated and anonymised form. These are optional.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time — see your browser's help section for details. Blocking non-essential cookies won't affect your ability to use this website.

8. YOUR RIGHTS

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Have inaccurate data corrected
  • Ask us to delete your data, where we no longer have a legal reason to keep it
  • Restrict or object to how we use your data
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@movemystuff.biz. We'll respond within one month, and there's no charge for a standard request.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please contact us directly if you have any concerns.

9. CHILDREN

Our website and services are aimed at adults arranging removals, deliveries and storage. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to our services or the law. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. We'd encourage you to check back occasionally.
